CBD oil and its general benefits

In recent years, CBD has surged popularity. It is a non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating compound that has no euphoric effects. Today it is used as an ailment around the world. CBD is the best option for those people who prefer natural remedies over medications. This oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, and then it is mixed with carrier oils such as hemp seed oil or coconut oil. Moreover, some of the scientific researches show that CBD has proven to be beneficial in treating many diseases.

CBD works with the help of two receptors that are already present in the human body and those are CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors are mostly present in the brain. 1.    Anxiety:

According to a report published in the Journal of Neurotherapeutics in 2015, it was revealed that CBD oil is effective in treating anxiety-related disorders. By looking at the results from experimental research, it was concluded that CBD is effective in treating panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. 2.    Treats Inflammation and Pain:

CBD is effective in treating pain and inflammation. According to some studies, it is revealed that CBD reduces chronic pain by impacting the activity of the endocannabinoid system in the human body. This reduces inflammation.

A study was conducted on rats to find out the truth regarding CBD in treating pain and inflammation. In one study, it was revealed that CBD injections reduced pain in rats caused by surgical incision. An oral spray named Sativex, which is a combination of THC and CBD was given to patients who have multiple sclerosis. About 47 people went through this examination for a period of one month. And it was concluded that the patients were feeling much more improvement in their movements and muscle spasms. Scientists concluded that CBD has therapeutic effect in tackling the craving of cocaine, opioid and other addictions. CBD is also useful in treating cancer symptoms like nausea, pain, and inflammation. A study was conducted to see the effects of CBD on cancer patients that did not experience any relief from other medications. These cancer patients were given a combination of both THC and CBD extracts. It was concluded that they felt a significant reduction in pain as compared to those patients who were only given THC extracts.

CBD also helps with the side-effects that come along with chemotherapy such as vomiting and irritability. A study was conducted on cancer patients who were undergoing chemotherapy. The patients were given a combination of CBD and THC via a mouth spray. It was concluded that these patients felt a relief in nausea and vomiting that was caused by chemotherapy. (3)

 

 

5.    Treating Epilepsy:

CBD oil is known to be useful for the treatment of epilepsy. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of CBD Epidiolex, as a therapy for treating epileptic seizures in patients. In two conditions, doctors can prescribe this to patients. They are as follow:

·        Lennox Gastaut Syndrome:

This is a disease that usually appears between the age of 3 and five years. In this condition, the patient suffers from regular and continuous seizures of different types.

·        Dravet Syndrome:

It is a rare condition. This usually occurs when the baby is newly born or is in his first year. In this condition, frequent seizures are experienced.

These seizures cannot be controlled with other medication that is why doctors are allowed to prescribe it to these patients. However, it is suggested by FDA that this drug should not be given to children under the age of 2 years. (4)

6.    Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes:

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your immune system attacks the cells in your pancreas. According to research published in 2016 by Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, it was stated that CBD helps to combat the inflammation caused in the pancreas. And it aids in preventing the symptoms of type 1 diabetes. (4)

7.    Acne related issues:

As acne is caused by inflammation, so using CBD oil for treating acne is the best option. According to a study published by the Journal of Clinical Investigation, it was revealed that CBD oil helps to reduce the production of sebum that is the root cause of acne. In this way, acne is treated, and inflammation is reduced. (4)
